               eXecute! 8 mars 1996

It's just a simple program to enable user to run tasks in parallel with
the cli (like mupfel). It needs a multitasking system like MagiC.
I don't know about MultiTOS or Geneva, but it should work there too
since I've only used documented OS-calls.

I have added the possibility for eXecute to search for the programs
and the data too, even.

You should set these variables in the environment:

PATH the usual one for all tos and ttp programs you use from the cli.
XPATH here are the paths to your favourite applications.
XDATA here are the paths to your favourite data (hypertext etc.).

Usually the cli takes care of setting up the environment but you
must never the less define these variables. It makes the program so
much more useful!

You can exclude the suffix and path! eXecute will fix this automatically
if it finds the program somewhere in the specified paths.
If you want it to search trough the paths for a data-file
like a hypertext for st-guide, you simply write:

x st-guide ~any.hyp

The ~ tells eXecute explicitly to search through the paths for data.
Here you use the suffix too since it could be anything.

Flags:

-signal Will first try to find the program in memory.
If it fails, it will load and run it (if found).
         This is default state.

-newprg Will always load and run new program.

-home Will set current directory to the location of the program.

-path path Here you can specify any path as current location
            before the program is executed.

It's possible to use the first letter only (e.g. -s for -signal).
The flags must be first in the line after the x, e.g.:

   x -s -p c:\anywhere program data

This one is freeware! I only hope it will be useful, it is for me!
If you have any ideas, bugreports or any opinions about it,
feel free to drop me a line!

P.S. 19 february 1997:
x.gtp works under N.AES, too - even with accessories. Thank you, Mikael!
