 This listing reflects the major features in Foresight version 0.46.  Newer
 versions will undoubtedly include more features not discussed herein.
  

GENERAL FEATURES:

   Terminal emulations supported:
      Color VT52, monochrome VT52, color ANSI, monochrome ANSI, color UBT,
      color IGS, color RIP, ASCII
   Internal ANSI emulation: 4-color rendering of 16-color ANSI; faster than
      ANSI-ST v0.4
   Internal UBT emulation: 4-color bitmap-oriented graphics
   Internal graphics conversion: e.g., ANSI-to-VT52 for VT52 users and
      VT52-to-ANSI for ANSI users; colors removed entirely for ASCII users
   ANSI and UBT auto-detection with graphic login
   Fast 19200 (14400) baud displays
   Full internal use of "PC" font
   Menu randomizer: up to eight menu sets for each terminal mode
   FzDS split-screen chat: for VT52, ANSI, and UBT
   Chat call plays MOD file in "background" through Paula MOD-player
   User defaults menu: all the basics plus autosignature, quoting prefix, 
      etc.
   Graffiti wall: one-liners
   Feedback: separate from e-mail to allow cosysops to moderate
   Rumors: advertisements which appear at main menu prompt

   DOS-like command interpreter: for sysop and cosysop use
   Top-Ten lists: including best and worst average message length
   New-user voting: optionally allow your users to determine who gets access
   General voting: ten directories of ten questions each; option to prohibit
      "follow-the-leader" voting; directories can be restricted by access
   Global new-scan ("Zip-scan"): read new messages, find new files, and
      check the graffiti wall with one key-press
   Automatic restore from backup data files if any should become corrupted
   Automatic archival of system log files into handy monthly ZIP files
   Automatic recovery from disconnects within full screen editor: buffers any
      already-written text until later
   FSN: the Foresight Network--FREE to join

   Internal support for FSN, the Foresight Network
   Internal support for gating Cbase, the ISIS message network
   Universal quoting buffer: quote more than just messages; quote e-mail,
      feedback, responses to voting questions...
   Quoted text is highlighted in red for VT52 and ANSI users
   Messages can contain VT52, ANSI, and UBT graphics: VT52 and ANSI will be
      converted (or stripped entirely for ASCII users)
   Message uploading for "ANSI pictures," etc.
   Internal QWK/REP functions
   Private, permanent, non-networked messages on network bases

E-MAIL FEATURES:

   File-mail: attach files to e-mail, even FSN net mail

   Global batch upload directory: upload everything at once and use it later
      or upload as necessary
   Support for all popular external uni-directional protocols: e.g., FzP
      (Xmodem CRC, Xmodem 1K, Ymodem, Ymodem-G, Fmodem), XYZ 2.02 (Zmodem)
   Support for bi-directional protocols: e.g., Jekyll

FILE-TRANSFER AREA FEATURES:

   Up to 999 file areas (1-999)
   Grouped into up to 26 file conferences (A-Z)
   Optional password protection on files
   File-point system with configurable upload-download ratio
   Extensive file search criteria
   Up to 32,000 files per area
   Support for off-line files

"DOORS" FEATURES:

   Up to 999 doors
   Support for Door Interface Program (DIP)
   Support for FoReM DORINFO1.DEF through "custom file" creation
   Support for FoReM FOREM.DAT through FSheller
   Support for Foresight doors
   Launch methods: simple command line, complex command line, simple file,
      complex file, DIP, generic execute, and custom file
   Packaged with FzDS Ring-Tracker: resets computer if the modem "rings"
      repeatedly with no carrier; e.g., if a door crashes

"BULLETINS" FEATURES:

   Nested bulletins menus
   Mandatory bulletins ("news")
   Bulletin-viewing can be restricted by access level

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

   2 or more megabytes of memory
   Hard drive
   1200 to 14400 baud modem; 28800 can be used by "locking" serial port rate
   ST medium resolution
   Tested on 8MHz ST, 8MHz STE, and 25MHz ST

FEATURES "COMING SOON":

   File areas: waiting-list; file-requests through QWK packets; full-screen
      list and scan; etc.
   Message bases: text search facility

COST:

   Foresight is DONATION WARE.  You register when you feel like it, if you
      feel like it, and with whatever amount you feel is appropriate
